Here’s a fun way to learn how to make a book with a sewn thread binding. See ‘How to’ below.
In this pocket size booklet (+- 10x10cm), the Lord’s prayer has been simplified into sections in order to make learning it, off by heart, simpler. It has also been designed to encourage meditating on the prayer and discussing each section together. Some special scripture declarations have been added that every true believer is persuaded of, deep within their heart (references included). I hope that you enjoy making it and personalizing it, because God is a personal God, who desires our love as He lavishes His love on us.
Using it:
Personalize the booklet with stickers and coloured kokis or pencils, and add your name and the date you received it.
Carry around and keep it in a special place to have a guardian read it frequently, like before bedtime or after waking up.
For the early reader to practice reading the Lord’s prayer and learn it off by heart.
What you will need:
- Printer and printing paper (printable prints out on 26 pages, double sided, for 2 books)
- Harder cover (optional)
- Scissors
- Thread
- Thick Needle for the thickness of your thread
- Needle with a tip or handle for making holes
- Stationary for personalizing
How to:
Making the booklet from the printable will require an adult, but children, preschool and older, will enjoy having their personalized prayer books to memorize each part of the Lord’s prayer by themselves.
The pdf file is ready for printing two copies, double sided, with cutting marks added for guidance.
- First cut the pages out in long rectangles.
2. Find yourself a thicker paper to cut at the same size in order to serve as the booklets outer backing.
3. Then fold it in the middle in order to make an almost square booklet.
4. Make 6 holes in the middle, spread out evenly, with a strong thick needle for the thread.
5. Now it can be sewn through the holes for the binding.
6. Keep the thread a bit longer in order to tie a knot to keep the thread in place.
