Recommendations for organising and planning

Whether you are a big planner or no planner, someone who loves making notes everywhere or absolutely dislike writing things down, there really is something for everyone in this vital life skill of learning to organise one’s life, steward one’s resources and serving one’s family.

Because I want to run our home well, I have tried using a bullet Journal, diary, note books and calendars to diarise and organise my and my families life. I like making notes, but learned that I am not very effective at it and need to improve. This became tedious and too much all-over-the-place as I kept drawing my own blocks and label headings to try and find a style that will help me be most efficient. Trying to become effective in organising my family, home, writing and kids’ education has been a growing process. We are still growing and finding our way through the constant changing life. So I have been looking for an easier way: a diary that might have a set up that will work for ME, but the more personalised ones in the shop are way too expensive and secondly, they usually do not fit what I need for our lifestyle (which includes a focus on education). But, now that has changed, I am so grateful to God and pleased that more products become available to assist home stay moms who take home-making as their job seriously and proudly. Here are two different personalized journals that I came across and also some other options. I recommend you have a look at these and consider your unique style to give “organising better” a try.

First is Melissa’s (Tuisbly Mamma Melissa https://www.facebook.com/melissa.spies.3?mibextid=ZbWKwL) affordable personalised journal/diary, available in English or Afrikaans. The great thing is that it is tailored to a lifestyle of a homeschool mom, with the labels and blocks you will use with regards to each child’s educational development. It includes the tables and calendar dates, like a diary, so you don’t have to keep filling in labels. There are pages with space for weekly food recipes and health goals, colouring spaces, month planner, daily planner, budget, each child’s pocket money, homeshcool outings and social dates, and even your own personal goals. You communicate with Melissa regarding your personal information (ie. your unique homeschool subjects or focus points to check and track) to make it your own personalised organiser. Melissa sends it to you in a digital format, as PDF, that you can print out and bind yourself (more on book binding a bit later 📚 😊 ). This option is great if you want to minimize choices and just dot down your plans in an already set diary. If you don’t have time to keep filling in the repetitive labels for daily tracking and check boxes, I highly recommend having a look at her resource. Even if you are not a home school mom you can choose your labels and keep track of your children’s school activities and other special education needs, or home goals. Melissa’s journal is ideal for the busy family!

Artist Anne Botha (annaboart https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=anne%20bo%20art%20studio) has a specially created diary which will suit the person who enjoys to doodle. This is for a person who wants to spend some more time on creating his/her own unique diary. She provides the year calendar and month pages, for journaling and diary needs, along with creative lines and dots with which you can draw and label your own days in a creative artistic manner. She sends you a physical product in A4 or A5. This diary/journal is exactly what you need if you find relaxation in drawing and colouring in whilst doing your planning, journaling and, for example, tracking of habits. This option leaves you with more choices to personalise extensively while investing in your creative side. I can highly recommend trying this out!

If you are not a big planner or someone who does not really make notes, I still recommend something to help you work on your organising skills, which we all need in life. Either buy a simplistic diary at a stationary shop or just quickly bullet it down in a bullet journal/notebook…have a look at this simple way: a minimalist, less writing and less clutter, style!

Invest in a diary, journal or planner and learn the life skill of organising your life. Various styles of diaries, journals and personal planners are becoming available, so search around to find what best will work for you. You will become more effective in doing life in your own unique way!Organising your internal world relieves pressure. You have more energy for living with more peace and joy! For me, investing in this life-skill has really been helping me to be able to become a better steward of what God has given me and in return also serving my family better!
